Recitation explanation complication

What the heck are the effects of the spell recitation. I remember hearing the original source (defenders of the faith) did

+2 to allies saves
+2 to allies attacks
+3 to each if they serve the same diety

-2 to enemies saves
-2 to enemies attacks

all based on luck

but spell compendium seems to change it twice both in the text and in the cleric spell list:

+2 to ac
+2 att rolls
+2 all saves

+3 if they worship the same diety

These differ quite a bit in actual play, even if they don't on paper. I went with #2 cause I get a better bonus and my DM allowed it, I just wanted to know which source to go by (compendium is newer)

Go with what the body of the spell description in SC says, i.e. allies get a "+2 luck bonus to AC, on attack rolls, and on saving throws" or a +3 if they worship the same deity. The reference to foes in the "Area" entry seems to be a holdover from the old version.
