reckless attack feat

Assuming you could find a feat that didnt have a low cap on it I could see a pretty interesting build. Get Karmic strike and combat reflexes, lower your AC a bunch for extra attack(or damage with power attack). Plus whenever you get hit you get an AOO.
I was looking into something almost the opposite. A super-AC character that could afford to be reckless. -X AC for +X to hit, then if the to hit wasn't a problem use Power Attack to move the +X to hit over to damage.

Makes an finesse-using spiked chain high dex pixie/fly/speck of dust that much nastier; dump bonuses for size "to hit" and bonuses for AC due to size right into damage via powerattack (at 2 for 1).

Even with a "lowly" 8 or 10 strength, could do major hurt without falling behind a human in the "to hit" department.

Heedless charge in Complete Warrior, part of the Shock Warrior feat.

Let's you use the power attack feat to convert AC into extra damage on a charge, instead of converting to hit into extra damage.

It's in Quintessential Fighter. Prereqs are ST 15 & Power Attack. It gives +1 dmg per -1 AC. I've altered it so it does +1 to-hit per -1 AC to a maximum of +5/-5, making it the opposite of Expertise.

That's really powerful (either way). There are many opponents where your AC doesn't matter(eg spellcasters); but the to-hit penalty from Expertise or Power Attack will nearly always matter.

Geoff.

+1 to hit per -1 AC means +2 (or more) to damage per -1 to AC with twohanded Power Attack. Kewl. My barbarian would love to cause 20 more points of damage for a puny -10 to AC, especially in a surprise round where he has the possibility to win initiative.

The feat you might be looking for is "Reckless Offence" ... it's in Races of Faerun

Prereq's: Power Attack, BaB +2
Benefit: -4 AC, +2 competence to melee attacks

Hah! they all copied ;) me, except that they chickened out and made it a feat when it should really be a manouvre open to all just like fighting defensively!

(Joking, it is an obvious example of parallel evolution, and it is a completely obvious thing to do. It is also obvious that supplements habitually introduce new techniques as a feat, when in actuality it makes much more sense for some of them to be general combat techniques (possibly with feats to improve their usage). Dive attacks by flyers is commonly (mis)handled in this way.

Regards

If a combat option that is not even a feat gives a bonus to attack, its grossly overpowered, no matter what the drawbacks are.
