Recommend a $15 product

Hi all !

Due to an exchange I'm going to do with Thanee from Germany, I need to specify $39.95's worth of D&D / D20 products to him that he's likely to ba able to purchase for me in Germany.

I have already selected R&R which is 24.95, so that leaves roughly $15's worth.

Anyone has a $15 product to recommend ?

Here's what I already own (roughly)

R&R2
Spells & Spellcraft (4)
Traps & Treachery
Ravenloft 3E
Ghelspad : Scarred Lands Campaign Setting
Book of the Righteous

In general, I'm interested in magic and religion stuff mostly, but a supplement on fighting styles could be of interest. Recommendations ?

:)

R&R is a good idea (and definitely available), especially since you already have the 2nd one! ;)

What about adventure modules? They are probably in that price range.

Dunno if you are interested in psionics, but I know they have Of Sound Mind (written by Piratecat IIRC :)), for example.

Well if you like a good rousing adventure, try Serpent in the Fold.

Another book you might like and I think is still out there, the Scarred Lands Dm Screen. You get more racial info AND two short Adventures. :)

Not d20, but a subscription to Pyramid Magazine is worth every cent. You get reviews (and yes, some of them for d20), lots and lots of generic articles useful for any campaign, and of course, the famous "Suppressed Transmission" series by Ken Hite, which will make your campaigns truely weird. Plus, the message board are really good.

Of course, the newly created d20 Weekly that runs in the same way as Pyramid might be more up your alley...

Waitaminute. You are asking someone here in Germany to purchase d20 stuff here?

Have you already figured the import costs that make American RPGs much more expensive here in Germany? How much depends on the company, but I'd add 50% to all prices...

I also recommend Of Sound Mind.

I wasn't thinking of an adventure specifically (I tend to design/write those myself) altough I do admit to being curious about Of Sound Mind considering a/ the author and b/ the hype. That'll be a fallback plan if I can't think of something else (I'm scanning the Talon Games website as we speak ;))

I seem to remember reading about a swashbuckling supplement that focused on fighting styles. That could be useful to me since my home campaign has a city where the 8 ruling families all have a different fighting style. Does this ring a bell with anyone ?

Dragongirl : Slayer's Guides - I own one (Hobgobs), and although I wouldn't call it bad, I know I won't get much use out of it. In addition, most of the creatures featured are not part of my game world in any significant way.

Thanee : I know I purchased 2 before 1 because a friend of mine gave me an (illegal) electronic version of R&R. Now I checked it and liked it I will get it, but in the meantime, I got 2...

Jürgen : The prices have not been computed, but rather we are exchanging products of like value.

Nightfall : I know you will butcher me for saying this, but I can't see myself running the Scarred Lands, especially now I have read (admittedly not everything) in the Campaign Setting. I find lots of interesting stuff, but it's neither the flavour nor the background I like to run now. Plus I have a homebrew and most of my purchases go towards enhancing that.

Those who speak French can check out my Story Hour for more on the homebrew

Thanks for these contributions. Keep 'em coming !

Well, if you like magicky stuff, I could recommend almost any of the Encyclopedia Arcane series (Mongoose), but I think my favorite to this point would be Encyclopedia Arcane: Elementalism.

Also recommended: the Book of Eldritch Might (I and/or II) for magicky stuff or Librum Equitis Volume I (if you're into prestige classes) - though you might be better served to get the PDFs from RPGNow.com...

And you can't go wrong with Green Ronin's Legions of Hell or Armies of the Abyss (both right around this price range IIRC).

There's my two cents.

Ooops...

The Sigil, I omitted a few more products I own :

BoEM I & BoEM II
Liber Equitis v1
Legions of Hell

Since demons are unlikely to be heavy contenders for attention in the coming years of campaigning, Armies of the Abyss is not vital as of now (plus I'm one of those GMs who already wonders how on Earth he will use more than 5% of the MM in his campaign ;)

As for Elementalism or any of the others, I have house ruled a lot of stuff already in the magick area, and I want to stop there for now. I'll probably pick up one of these supplements at some point, if only to see what they've done, but that's as far as I'm willing to go for now.

Me ? Picky ?

No Way !
