Recommend a good wiki?

I know there was a thread on this a while back. I'd go look for it, but, well...yeah. :)

Anyhoo, can anyone recommend a good site to build a campaign wiki? The players in the Generation Legacy pbp want to create a 'fill in the gap' sort of cooperative story hour describing the 70 or so pages of lost data from the game.

I've used TiddlyWiki/10-footWiki, and that's not quite what I'm looking for. Something web based would be better. Thanks.

we're using mediawiki (www.mediawiki.org), and we are very happy with it.

mediawiki requires php & mysql, so you need to find a webhotel that provides that (unless you want to host it yourself).

i've tried moinmoin, but i wasnt happy with it. but it only requires python and no database.

Do you already have hosting? If so, mediawiki is pretty good, but there are dozens of wikis out there.

If you don't have hosting yet, look for a free wiki, like at wikicities (now wikia.com) or pbwiki.com.

I'm using Mediawiki as well, and recommend against it. Most of the things you think it does, from using Wikipedia, are mods applied to it or changes made by the coders. Even things like uploading images aren't activated by default.

Its sole advantage is that a lot of people know the syntax for adding entries.

I have been using DokuWiki with great efficiency and pleasure, easy setup (no database), nice layout out from the box, easy syntax. This wiki works well, is fast and easy to use.

The fact that it stores data in plain text files makes backup a pleasure.

DokuWiki is a standards compliant, simple to use Wiki, mainly aimed at creating documentation of any kind. It is targeted at developer teams, workgroups and small companies. It has a simple but powerful syntax which makes sure the datafiles remain readable outside the Wiki and eases the creation of structured texts. All data is stored in plain text files – no database is required.
