Other than GURPS, are there any recomendations for any WWII based RPGs?

Oh, yes! Godlike - a gritty game of superheroes in the WWII era. It has one of the more ingenious dice mechanics around.

To be honest I am not sure what I am looking for. WWII pulp and realistic themes appeal to me and so do hard line occult. I think I am leaning more towards the D20 Modern, although the Godlike looks very appealing. Anyone running a PbP Godlike game?

I don't know if it's still being published, but Pinnacle Games' Weird Wars was pretty cool. There was even a d20 version of it.

Speaking of Pinnacle, Savage Worlds is a good GURPS-like generic system. The campaign/setting books for it (Evernight, 50 Fathoms, etc.) are well done and creative.

As of late I have been running several D&D 3.5 games both FtF and PbP. I am wanting to try/play something different. The only real requirement is it needs to be readily available as a PbP game(s). My FtF players will NOT play anything but D&D.

I am thinking maybe something along the line of occult or even some type of WWII military type RPG. I am looking for something that is NOT high fantasy based.
Unknown Armies is the best (post)modern occult game out there.

World of Darkness in its new incarnation has a core rules book which is a complete game for playing mortals in the World of Darkness - think The X Files or Supernatural. The supplements for this line are really high in quality.

I enjoyed GURPS WWII, and it could easily be translated to Fourth Edition if you wanted to use the newest rules. There are quite a few supplements if you need them, including some on specific countries' armies available on PDF.

If you can find a copy, or are happy to buy the PDF, Adventure! is one of the best pulp games ever. Hell, I've considered using it to play a Knights of the Old Republic Star Wars game.

Warhammer 40k will soon be out. Is that high fantasy based, though? Hmmm, might be, kinda.

Mutants and Masterminds 2E is great, if you likes the supers.

Can't recomend a WWII game, I've never tried that, actually.

I second Godlike. I played a highly enjoyable campaign set in various Aussie campaigns. My Players loved every minute of it.

Dice mechanics are interesting. It's stat+skill, but basically you try to get pairs (or triples) or whatever. A pair is a success and depending on the number you succeed differently. Getting two 0's (tens) for instance is a head shot, and most likely is going to kill.

For superheroes, they die real easy. I recommend troup play. A little research also goes a long way, but everything you need to play is in the book.

Not very crunchy in the end, but very deadly.
