The Compleat Strategist
Yelp Review:
The Compleat Strategist - Midtown East - New York, NY
I agree with the top rated review, which reads:
"This store amazingly manages to cram almost every hobby board game available into two aisles; I suspect non-Eucledean geometry due to dealings with Cthulhu, but I can't prove anything at this point.
Seriously, board gamers will fall to their knees, both in awe and to get a better look at the boxes that stretch from floor to ceiling. Role-playing gamers will drool over the huge collection, including what seemed like the entire lines of White Wolf, Lot5R, D&D/d20, and more. CCG players will find not only current offerings of Magic, but packs of extinct games as well (I can't be sure, but I didn't notice any dealings in Magic singles). Even oft-neglected wargamers will find a big selection.
Prices seem high-retail, which I've come to expect at local gaming stores of this kind, especially one maintaining such inventory. As a plus, I was surprised and happy to see a decent selection of 50%-off games in the back, something I don't often see.
I can't emphasize enough that any serious board gamer/hobbyist/geek MUST come here; it's like the BoardGameGeek database manifested itself in a store. The only downside is that, because it's in the city, you may have to limit your purchases based on what you can carry on the subway instead of what you could've packed in your car."
