Recommend Me Some Diabolically Appropriate Music

I submit to you Lovecraftian creepy: Payne's Gray - Kadath Decoded (vocalist may be too creepy for some tastes).

The Imperial March is far too well-known to work for background music, but consider the "Emperor's Throne Room" piece from Return of the Jedi. It's this low, ominous, wordless chant, perfect for a noncombat encounter with a truly diabolic villain. (Although there might be a few places where the Imperial March theme crops up, don't remember offhand. How good are you at sound editing?)

For a more martial theme, "March of the Dead" from the Army of Darkness soundtrack is very good.

Are you looking for orchestral music or something in a more modern vein?

Depending on the theme, some of Karl Sanders' solo stuff could work:

For background music, I would go with pure ambience rather than structured songs. Have a listen to the first 10 minutes of Nurse With Wound's Salt Marie Celeste, which is basically an album's worth of deliciously black drone:

Requiem for a Dream the movie soundtrack has some songs that would be appropriate.

You could sample dozens of video games as well. Gears of War 1 has some awesome bombastic music for fighting demons and devils (or Locust).

Thanks for the suggestions. The PCs are only half way through 1st level, so keep the suggestions coming. BTW, I did end up using Ave Satani, the theme song from The Omen, during the last session and that seemed to work on the players!
