Recommendations for remote gaming tools

Hey all,

I've taken a 2 year job far away from my ten year gaming group and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for remote gaming tools - beyond those of the ole' IRC/webcam utilities.

Going completely online isn't an option - the guy whose house we game at is a Luddites who started looking at us funny when we started bringing in laptops in the first place. Fortunately there's another technophile who is willing to setup a laptop at the game's end.

Thanks.

I'm hoping that if you're willing to go to this much trouble to set up something like this, that the people on the other end trust you to roll your own dice without supervision.

Assuming that's the case, it seems like one of those weird triangular conference phones that are always in meeting rooms would work well. You could use skype or something to call in to them for free. Heck, you could even set up a webcam if you wanted and have the laptop be "you."

You could always use NetMeeting to share desktops, then utilize regular (typically offline) RPG utilities to roll dice and such.

Yeah, I'm looking at Skype w/ video. Unfortunately Microsoft seems to have ditched netmeeting for Vista 64 and Windows Meeting space isn't available on XP.
(Insert comment about MS ditching a perfectly valid tool that was free for it's users in favor of the pay-to-use Windows Live).

Anyone know of a good online conferencing solution? WebRPG died after it went pay-for-play and I was wondering if a successor has appeared.
