from p. 8 -- "fits perfectly in the region between the Misty vale and the Forest of Amtar." Name changes:
Brindol --> Rethmar
Giantshield Mountains --> Rathgaunt Hills
Endless Plains --> The Shaar

Other suggestions are noted as well: in the southern stretches of Chessenta, or the borderlands between Imiltur, Damara and Narfell.

If you open up your handy FRCS map, Elsir Vale lies just south of the words "The Shaar".

The Wyrmbones mountains are replaced by the Wyrmsmoke in the FR, Lake Lhespen by Lake Rhestin, the city of Rethmar becomes Brindol and Channathgate becomes Dennovar.

I'm playing in this, and the DM loves weather rules. Our first encounter was against bandits or something. Our second encounter was against 90 degree heat at dawn, rising to 117 degrees at noon. Apparently the Shaar is some sort of intensely hot place, and the game takes place during summer.

We now intend for our wizard to just use all his 1st level spell slots on Endure Elements, every day. Amazingly, however, our DM claims the NPCs and monsters don't have to make checks to resist heat exhaustion, because they're used to it.

Really? I've had NPC use Bluff against the PCs before, seems to me what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Most players willing to role play do not object when you tell them " you find what they say believable", or "the goblin seems likable".

If players do this for roleplaying purposes, great. But they are not forced to like or trust an NPC based on a simple die roll.

There must be other examples of rules that apply to NPCs and PCs differently. In my games, NPCs never have to bother with a Leadership feat. They just have underlings.
