Trailer Red Sonja trailer

Lots of historical records of folks and entire armies mostly skipping the whole armor thing. Zulus, Britons, American Indians, etc. The Spartans and Greeks were fairly uncovered in the 300 movies.

I really am getting rather tired of the current era RPG and movie practice of "Any exposed skin other then face and fingers is too much."

At least this movie so far is planned for theater release instead of some random streaming outlet.
So, it was common for them to have armor tops and skirts?

This looks like a direct to video assuming it makes it to theater. The hulu predator movie looked better
You mean Prey? That was an amazing movie, with a budget of $65m, which is not nothing.

Skirts? Absolutely yes. Armoured skirts, some of them quite short are pretty common in bronze and iron age warfare (and probably later).

What wasn't common was a bare midriff you had an armour top. But also women fighting in anything but an emergency wasn't common so I think it's fair to suggest a lot of warriors who IRL went into battle in naught but a weapon, maybe a shield, and a loincloth/sandals would have also had some kind of boob cover if female. And that might have been ornate or decorative if they were high-status.

It's obviously a bit silly, but at the same time, unless you have a strong idea for a redesign of the character, it's part of their look, in the same way Captain America's slightly undersized shield is (man would have been shot in the face, dick, and knees/shins so many times).

Oh, man. I don't know about you, but I'd like to go at least one day without hearing about Captain America's rear end or his junk. Just one day!!

Im not a stickler for historical accuracy, I just think its funny to make a joke about chainmail bikinis and then go, "now this...this is much better!" I mean, I get it, it would be like Jack Reacher never taking his shirt off, its a part of the fan service appeal. Why even put the joke in? Though this is a me thing clearly becasue I dont like 4th wall breaking things such as this to begin with.
