Trailer Red Sonja trailer

Plenty of actors older than that still in action.
True Clint Eastwood is 95 but long gone are the days of him beating the hell out of people on screen. Harrison Ford is 82 and I thought he did a good job in the last Indy movie. I just think that the role may be more physically demanding now than when he first committed to the role which I think was over 10 years ago.

All it will need is King Conan sitting dramatically on the Throne raving about the evil of civilized men's tongues being more deadly than swords - then hand the action off to Conn*

(*I wonder who has the rights to that)

I was just reading that either the studio who released the 2011 Conan with Momoa either are refusing to release the rights or sold them to another studio who arent willing to give them up. So until whatever studio and Schwarzenegger get the rights looks like this is dead in the water. Then again, the last article I found was from August 2024 so who knows where it is now. IMDB still has it listed as in development.

You wonder why there were so many vehicle chase scenes in that last movie? It's so he could do the 'action' scenes sitting down.
I saw it twice, once in the theater and once VOD and I honestly don't recall, and it wasn't something that occurred to me at the time either

So the Conan stories go (or start to go) public domain in the US in 2028. Does that open the door to more Conan movies?

Red Sonja has a lot longer to go.
For books I would say yes and probably for stories based on specific books in the public domain but I am not sure how rights propagate from written media to other media forms.

The copyright isn’t that clear. Some stories already are public domain, some aren’t. And there is contention over which are which. But Conan is still trademarked and will remain so until trademark law ceases to exist. The trademark holders are particularly…rabid…so there will be nothing produced with the Conan name on it without them getting their cut.
