This illustration is from another of the fabulous artists we had working on the Campaign Guide. The arcanist portrayed has failed to properly cast his spell, stumbling on the complex Abyssal incantations. Demonic energy surges around him, poised to deal the killing and/or possessing blow. But at the last minute, a demonic refactoring pendant worn around the arcanist's throat transforms the lethal spell energy and saves his life.
