Redidual damage - the shadows left after magical healing

It look WAY to complicated to keep track of in game.
You definately don't want any more scribbling to be done when you heal, or it's going to slow down play.

How about something simple, like, each time you find yourself below 25% total hp, you gain 1 residual damage. It doesn't need to be mechanically tied to magical healing because, well, PCs will magically heal anyway, no need to track specific amounts. You need 1 day of rest to get away with it. If you accrue more than X residual damage, you have some penalties.

Residual damage should also come from other sources. You spend your entire day hacking at a wall with a pickaxe in attempt to break it? Ok, here's your residual damage.

Hi all,

We tried it last night.

Thanks for all your input so far.

Didn't seem complicated to apply rd at all.

Just every time someone got healed, they added a little bit to their rd. They said "OK I drink a healing potion and heal (rolls) 8 hit points." I say "Cool, add (8 div 4) 2 to your rd).

Unfortunately, the only character who was picking it up at any kind of rate (the tank) DIED before it became significant! lol

He died in the second last round of combat with the campaign-ending super-trying-to-destroy-the-world boss...

Very fun!

It was an AMAZING game last night. Thanks PATHFINDER!!!

Trying Carrion Crown next!
