Okay, third attempt at a good poll, I do apologize again.

My selection is GURPS for it's fluidity and many options despite it's faulty production value in its Characters book. Amazing game.

I still have to vote "other" :D:

HeroQuest :)!

Edit: I'm not talking about the boardgame, but the RPG, formerly HeroWars.

Aaaargh! Once again Fading Suns Victory Point System (FSVPS) didn't make the list... which isn't really all that surprising as it appears to be a niche game system in a group of niche games.

Reasons I love FSVPS:
  • The setting is so deep you can throw a scenario at it and it's bound to stick somewhere (Questing, Intrigue, Merchants, Monsterhunt, and MORE!)
  • Magic and blasters. Energy shields and demons. Spaceships and swords. Cthulhuesque Horrror and MORE!
  • I like the system itself. It... clicks with me. I like accents, extended tasks (actual name escapes me), the Spirit Characteristics and the Dreaded Doppelganger: The Dark Twin.
  • The system is trivially easy (is that even close to correct grammar?) to adopt to other genre as Fading Suns comes close to covering them all anyway.
Reasons I don't run/play FSVPS:
  • Players are currently very interested in our D&D3e campaign and are leaning towards a d20SW campaign if we go Sci-Fi-like. Since we're playing On-Line adventures take a looooooooooooooooo :::breath::: ooooooooong time to complete.
  • I'm pretty sure if I could convince them to do Fading Suns, it'd be d20 Fading Suns which is OK, but not what I'm after.

You should try WarhammerQuest. :)

I think this some kind of misunderstanding. I don't talk about the old boardgame, but the RPG "Heroquest - Roleplaying in Glorantha", formerly HeroWars. The website is here :).

It was a tough decision for me between RuneQuest and Ars Magica. But, I chose ArM as I would rather play that. I ran RQ for several years and am happy to take out the books an muse about past glories.

Am I the only person on these boards who loved the Cyberpunk 2020 Rules...Before the R.Talsorian rules mixed with the Hero systems to become the d10 systems (I think, anyway). Cyberpunk campaigns were the only ones we played that lasted for a long time (the longest one being a bit over 2 years). My old Cyberpunk referee moved to North Carolina, so I haven't played it in about 3 years, but I loved it so much.

If I could could choose another system I'd have to agree with Doc Klueless on Fading Suns. I've never actually got to play it, but i've read the rule book and a few of the setting books a bunch of times and I have to say out of all the sci-fi settings that I've seen it's definetly my favorite.

Exalted seems pretty hot, too.
