regaurding echani

Ok, for a long time I've searched and searched for more info on the echani especially inreguards to game mechanics to no avail... all I found was..

1) they are near-human but no details other than that except stating highly agile which leads to believe have a Dexterity modifier
2) they are just human

So any thoughts on their "communication through combat"? Should they have echani fighting 1 as a racial bonus?

I've searched a multitude of forums, joined several, imho enworld has the absolute best community, as of all the rpg forums I'm a member of, enworld's members are by far the most knowledgeable and helpful

By fluff, there should be something to encourage the use of light weaponry and armor. A bonus to their dexterity/agility. Perhaps a bonus to Perception/Sense Motive (lower the amount of rounds needed to observe an opponent to read their Combat Readiness?).

Maybe have combat stances as an actual language, so that two echani could speak to each other simply by movement. Speak language: echani military sign?

Funny thing is, I don't think any of the "Echani" skills fit their fluff. I'd give them Martial Arts 1, and then continue into something like the K'thri feats from the Hero's Guide (which all basically add attacks and hitting power).

Which game are you seeking mechanics for? Given how many different systems (officially or home brew) support Star Wars RP, any advice you get will be pretty heavily biased towards whichever system the respondent prefers. Not to mention any biases derived from their own understanding of the race (my take: Echani are humans from a culture very similar to western understandings of Shaolin fighting and philosophy and a very narrow phenotype).

Example: I'm using Savage Worlds to run a Star Wars game (and it's going really well). I simply gave all Echani the Martial Artist edge, which makes them extremely capable unarmed combatants. The rest of the system supports most of the rest of their fluff without needing to make racial traits. "Communication through combat" is simply the wuxia way - everything, from laundry to romance to blood feuds, is done by a martial arts battle. The results and style of the combat tell you much about your opponent.

Best of luck.
