Regular Campaign Segues Into Tomb of Horrors!!!

We played it (I didn't DM that one).

We S.U.F.F.E.R.E.D. .

I started with a CN wizard, ended up evil and somewhat insane, died, got raised, died, got raised, died... created a cleric.

One of the PC's got permanently turned into a Zombie

We finished it. Successfully. It was the hardest adventure I ever played.

Your party though is a tad more powerful than we were (no epic dudes).

Enjoy...

Those levels should be more than enough to handle the Tomb. Although, really the dangers of the Tomb are overcome more by luck than anything else, given the utter lack of saving throws in there.

Well, in my heavily-modified version, everything except the big mouth has a save, check, attack roll or something built in. Even the one, especially nasty, tilting hallway trap- they had a chance to spot it before it dumped 'em all in the magma.

So far it's been fun for everyone, I think!
I am glad to hear this !

We had fun in the beginning, but when you arrive in the area that contains
all the towers connected with bridges
, your PC's might start to have enough of it all...

At the end of the game before last, one of the pcs (who'd picked up a certain necessary something without realizing what he'd gotten) stumbled through the entrance to that place. Well, we ended there without him knowing what had happened to his character. When we started our last session, I locked him in my room by himself with only a blacklight and ran a bit for him, then went back into the other room and left him there to emphasize the sense of isolation and silence in that place. :) When the rest of the party got there I turned off the music and plugged the black light in at the gaming table! It seemed to set a mood, all right! :D Good stuff!

Would you throw the regular pcs in your campaign into something like the Tomb of Horrors, even at Epic leves??

I plan to create a Tomb of Horrors inspired dungeon and place it in my campaign world. (Everyone's pretty familiar with the original if only from the rest of us talking about it on occasion.) The PCs will hear rumors about it being a deadly place as well as the fabulous treasures that are said lie within. It'll be up to them whether and when they want to risk their lives there. Bwahahaha...hahaha...hahaha... :D
