Reign Of Fire, a Modern D20 Movie?

I saw a sneak peak at some of the unreleased scenes from this movie at a recent LA Sci-Fi & Comic Convention, along with a panel that had the Director and Christian Bale. The movie looks pretty good. Poor Christian was swarmed by fan-boys, and fan-girls actually.

Not to rain on everyone's parade, or look like a Troll, but this movie has a lot of potential to be like the big smoking pile Hollywood is oft to put out.

I just have this feeling that getting excited, it's going to end up like the D&D movie. Looks, sounds great, and then... Phew.

The way it sounds, it could end up as follows: Dragons awake. Kill most of humans. Then, a small faction of humans, with post-apocalyptic technology find a way to kill the dragons (likely destroying their heart or whatnot), and saves humanity, letting humans live.

I've seen it a hundred times. I'm sure the special effects will be awesome, but still, the dragons are most likely going to be destroyed again, and humanity will prosper. I'm not ragging and saying the movie sucks and what not, but more, I'm concerned, and wondering if it's going to be open and shut?

What was that Nature vs. Man horror?

furn?

zombies? nazis? are you reffering intentionally or unintentionally to the movie "hard rock zombies"? in which the plot goes something like this: a struggling band struggles to make it in the music industry. while on tour they come across a town full of .....oh who cares they find a song that causes the dead to rise. they die under mysterious circomstances. their fan plays the song at their graves. they rise from the dead to take vengance on their killers and play one last gig. who was responsible for their death you ask? HITLER and his evil gang of course. he had been hiding in the bible belt since ww2.

Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter

With all this talk of weird Nazis zombie movies etc, I, the resident lurker, just had to chime in...

If you can, check out the recent Canadian film Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter.

Jesus and a masked mexican wrestler take on a band of vampires that are causing the reduction of Toronto's lesbian population... seriously... no really... I'm serious...

On a more thread-specific note, who else, after seeing their first Reign of Fire preview, hoped that the dragons would win and wipe out the humans?

i hope you people are joking.
this film looks like the biggest pile of dog turd ever.
the trailer makes me feel that the script is worse than d&d:the movie, the effects have been done before but are slightly better than predecessors (d&:the movie and even jurassic park, the storyline is non-existent and i never heard of the sctors. oh dear

Hmm, You have never heard of Christian Bale? Wasn't he the guy who starred in American Psycho?

Matthew McConaughey?
A Time To Kill, Amistad, Contact?

Oh, lord only knows a movie could only be of good quality when you are familiar with the actors.

the storyline is non-existent

Is this insight gathered from first hand experience or from your, obvious, vast knowledge of movies?

i hope you people are joking

Well, one of us is a joke.

Will the movie be any good? *shrug* Who knows.

Does it hurt to get excited about what looks like a fun movie? Nope.

Hoping for the best,
FD

Hey now, Christian Bale is a GREAT actor. Don't be bagging on him!

Someone previously asking why this dragon looks more like Wyvern. That is correct. The Director said his orginal dragon was much more dragon-like, but when the experimented with it, it just didn't move right. It seemed stilted and less evil, more like a big lizard. After a lot of work, they eventually moved the wings up above the shoulder blades, messed around with the legs, lengthend the neck, etc.. until it started to move the way he envisioned it. I think the end product is pretty nifty actually. These dragons are friggen scary! It feels a lot more like it is going to strike out at any minute.

I think the movie will be surprisingly good.

As for the other discussion: The ninjas must be female high school students dressed (at least part of the time) in Catholic school girl outfits. With throwing stars tucked inside their knee-high socks.
