Relic Hunter

the Jester

Legend
Is there any kind of relic hunter prestige class out there? Kinda aimed at your ol' cleric/rogue type?

If not, does anyone want to offer suggestions?

With Use Magic Device and Decipher Script, rogue seems fully adapted to this class. Except for the fact that all knowledges are cross-class skills, the rogue basically fits the bill already.

Just get a cool hat and a whip and then delve into the dreaded TEMPLE OF DOOM! Watch out for that heart stealing cult......Kalimah, Kalimah, Kalimah Shock Ti Daeeerrrr!!!!!

Cheers, :D

Not meaning to hijack the thread, just random trivia...

It's actually
Kali ma, Kali ma shukti da-dho (means "Black Mother, Black Mother strength give [to me]" -- the word "Dark" in this particular case can be used in place of "Black" and the word "power" in this case can be used in place of strength. The "to me" is implied."

We now return you to your thread on Relic Hunters.

As said though, I would say go for the Rogue and maybe, if you want, swap out some of the skills and in its place put in the Knowledge skills. OR swap something out and put Bardic Knowledge in its place. Thus you have a custom classs that is really just a tweak of the rogue.

Even still, you wouldn't _have_ to do this. You'll note that in the movie/show versions of Relic Hunters, there is usually the relic hunter his/herself and some "brain" assistant who knows all the esoteric pieces of knowledge... so the relic hunter could be the rogue as is 9without tweaks) and still be justified for that title. Just depends on your definition on what the Relic Hunter should be ... (just the hunter, or also the specialized knowledge, etc...)

Get the monsternomicon and check out the adventuring scholar - essentially a non-magical indiana jones type (complete with university position and the odd weapon preference). Its the first prestige class that has ever tempted one of my devotedly anti-PrC players just based on the coolness of it. I just love it because it says that non-magical people are interested in learning too :D

The adventuring scholar is good-

Here's an option for you, the Myste from FFG's Path of Shadow:

"The Mystes are expolers of the arcane mysteries. They do not seek to master spells as a traditional wizard does. Instead they master the crafts and tools of majic, the enchanted items created by another. They use the powers of whatever devices they find to supplement their own abilities..."

Req: knowledge arcana 4 ranks, Spellcraft 4 ranks, use magic device 8 ranks

FEats: Skill Focus ( use magic device)

PrC level abilites include spell like abilities ( detect & read magic, identify & ITEM MASTERY ( allows bonus to some magic item use skill checks ) & Increases in sneak attack among others
