Religion/Faith Supplement?

I think if the player is putting in all this work, they should get a reward, but not one they can rely on. Part of the point of faith is sticking to it whether you can see the obvious benefits or not. So, maybe the if your player does all that ritual worship before a battle or whatever, the next time he makes a poor roll, you say "Because of your devotion, your god offers you a second chance, but if you re-roll, you must accept the results of the second roll." Which is a lot like a hero point use, but you choose when it can happen instead of the player. And as long as the player continues their heartfelt devotionals, each time they do, afterwards they get the offered re-roll next time the roll poorly. But if they slack, or if their behavior seems routine rather than coming from genuine faith, you don't make the offer. You don't say anything, you just don't put it out there. I think this preserves the mystery of religious belief and makes a worshipper's relationship to his or her deity something like how real-world polytheists related to their gods. It also doesn't upset game balance, since it is a not reliable nor on the PC's character sheet.
