D&D 4E Remember when 4e fans laughed at Pathfinder for having rules for stairs?

I think the idea of the powers is pretty solid. paizo I'n their Tuesday blog had a terrain discussion of similar things. the thing is as I said I'n my firs post a general rule should be able to cover most of it. a number of those powers the cmb mechanic used creatively should cover them. but I think the idea is solid and should be encouraged.

Exactly! If something is useful and creates for interesting roleplaying, it should be encouraged, even "rules for stairs" or "rules for rugs, tables and lamps".

I agree. But the title makes it seem like there was a cadre of 4e fans that made fun of "rules for stairs" when it was just like... one random dude. I for one didn't even know it had rules for stairs and I didn't care.

Yes, they were interesting, if a bit already familiar (see below).

Stairs
This isn't nearly as evocative as the powers in the first post (or the action zones in Iron Heroes, where Mike Mearls introduced the idea to d20).

On a side note, I'm surprised you remember something like that from nearly two years ago! I'm impressed.

I'm terrified. There's no knowing what silly thing I've said over the years that might come back to haunt me!

Curse the collective memory of EN World! :D

I think that the powers posted are cool and useful. I think that the thread title casts the OP in a poor light.

Meh. This is where "cheating" comes into play when I GM. You want to do something like this, I'll invent a skill check and we'll see how the dice fall. Arbitrary? Perhaps, but makes for great fun at the table when I encourage players to try crazy stupid stuff.
