Remnants of the Horde:The Return of Zuregath

Tsu'koka grins at the Marshall's blunt language.

"It does look that way, doesn't it. You have a good mind Sroka. The engineers.

"We have to discuss options. Would you join me with the others?"

He glances over at the factious gathering just up the hill a little.

"It is your choice," he adds. Then Tsu'koka turns and sets off back up the hill to where the others gather.

Battle: Durgo lives for this.

"Come," he says to all, and then turns to Vespazian,"you find way in, den come back to Durgo. Pick dem's to go wif you. Durgo marshall troops to formation and lay sieges. Zuregath counting on you, little hoo-man. No f*ck up.

"MURAGAR, to Durgo! Uders go wif hoo-man if him say. Not you, Kurg," he looks at the gnoll, then the bugbear, and points down the hill,

"We go."

~~~
On the way down the hill, the ogre inquires as to the bugbear's name (too many bugbears in battle not to know this one's name). He calls to the hobgoblin riders to find engineers and bring them to him. Durgo passes the duty of Zuregath's banner onto one of the Muragar so it could be seen more easily.
"Need a horn," he says absentmindedly, if mostly to himself.
He will add ranks to the existing numbers from any soldiers he encounters on the way. There would be order! There would be discipline! If not... DURGO SMASH HEADS!
You find way in, den come back to Durgo. Pick dem's to go wif you. Durgo marshall troops to formation and lay sieges. Zuregath counting on you, little hoo-man. No f*ck up. Vespazian barely heard the brute's words, busy studying the caslte as he was. It wasn't until thirty seconds had passed that he realised that the idiot had run off with the shock troops and a bugbear straight toward the battle lines. He thought, before doing his best to retrieve the Ogre's parting words. "Find way in" Vespazian thought back to the days when he was resident in his Lord's castle, sure that he of all the recently arrived Myrach troops, would know of an alternative entrance.
And if, in the process that idiot Muragar managed to get himself slain, then small loss.....
He looked about the gathered motley troops. Those who don't know me, I am Vespazian, chosen Captain of Zuregath. The Gulgathan Durgo has left to execute the first part of my plan to retake our Lord's castle. We have the honour of being the first to take the castle from within. Sroka! I want ranks and skirmishers. Organise this useless lot into a usable fighting force! Once that ugly-sod-of-a-wizard returns, we head off.
(OOC - would Vespazian know of any ways in, maybe not secret as such, but certainly not obvious to those who are attacking?)
Observing the masses of troops fighting amonst themselves with the chaos that comes in battle, Forlash circles the castle looking for a way in...or at least with less fighting going on. Noting what he can he heads back to where his fellows await for him...
OOC: only have 10 min total time to scout and return. So let me know Mr. Uriel..
Tsu'koka watches the group spit into two along the fault lines of power. {1} He turns and walks back to where Blood lies waiting and settles down beside the huge beast to await what comes. He wonders if he cares any more. He feels exaustion lie heavily upon him. Perhaps Blaught had the right idea.
{1}Who is with whom, exactly?
OoC:I think that I sorted the troopers in the OoC.
I just wanted to get this one off of page three. Page three is for busty British girls, after all...Game to resume for real after I sleep...
OOC: mmm, busty British girls ...
Wekerak keeps Frostbite near Vespazian. Durgo gave him no orders otherwise, and an open charge toward the castle is not to the Goblin's taste.
Of course, he thinks to himself as he watches the blackguard try to marshall his forces, we've yet to see if the pretty boy can actually do anything.
Durgo continues down to where the rabble carries on without any order. Durgo would fix that. Real soon...
OOC: HEY! WE'RE BACK IN THE LAND OF ... I'm not going to say that. That's just dirty!
OoC:No, Vespazian knows of no way into the Castle,other than the tried-and-true (in the movies) sneaking in through the sewers.
IC
Vespazian, Tsu'koka and Wekerak remained upon the hill,staring in disbelief at the Ogres,Gnoll and Bugbear receding in the distance.
Around them, the Gnolls and Bugbears stood uneasy, sensing the tension between the two Captains. Theirs was the lot of those who do not lead, and thus,they would prefer to remain out of such situations.
Sroka stands and barks an order in Hobgoblin, gaining the immediate reaction, as all of the Hobs stand and line up,awaiting his order.he Gnolls follow in short order.
The Marshall orders all packs forward and open,recieving compliance, as each trooper deposits his rucsack upon the ground,removing the food therein. Sroka has the Corporal begin a reallocatement of the food and water, making sure that each trooper had a fair share to carry as well as to consume.
The Gnolls whined a bit at this, then quickly shut their muzzles as Sroka's gaze fell upon them. Their packs had held much food, though nearlyall of it was unfit for consumption by any save their debased digestive tracks. They were allowed to keep the half-rotted goblin meat within,although their water was shared out.
Looking to Tsu'Koka and then to Vespazian, Sroka awaited their command.
OoC:I just made the coolest encounters chart for the Plains of Myrach :D
Durgo, Bargo and Kurg, along with the Bugbear Sgt , jog off down the hill towards the distant Castle, the three remaining Muragar clanging along behind.
Having gone a half mile or so (and indeed, about a quarter of the way to the castle).
It is a cry of alarm to the rear that brings Durgo,Bargo and the rest swinging around, to see a frightening sight...
The rearmost two Muragar stands in mid jog, turned completely to stone...
A trio of metal-skinned bulls stand not 35 feet distant, preparing to charge the Band, honking and stampig their feet in rage.
Initiatives
Sgt Nilgo {21}levels his massive Arbalest at one of the Gorgons,firing (miss).
Kurg {20}, wanting nothing to do with these creatures up close, opens his Dwarfskin bag, causing a rush of foul and putrid air to come forth,followed by the coalescing form of a dessicated dwarf in rotting mail, his Wight Servant.
The Wight falls upon one gorgon, slashing it twice with it's Waraxe <2 hits, 1 for a crit 52 HP>.
Gorgons {19}
Gorgon One blows it's Breath upon the Wight, causing no effect...
Gorgon Two Charges the remaining Muragar, missing him.
The last Gorgon expels his deadly breath upon the Band, failing to turn any of them to Stone.
OoC:Kurg made his save by that much(pinching fingers together...).
Bargo {14}
Muragar {13}
Durgo {7}
OoC: Gorgons are 20 feet from the Muragar Soldier and about 35 feet from the others. All have room to charge a Gorgon if they wish.
G1 is wounded by the Wight, G2 and G3 are unwounded.
Forlash wings his way about the battle, seeking a way in to the Castle. For those able to fly, there were many ways in, windows and wall sections.
For a crow,in particular, there were many places to alight upon.
Of secret entrances, there seems to be no sigh. Further up the mountainside are great open vents in the volcano, with poisonous gases escaping.
As well, the open top of the mountain looms in the distance, covered in a cloud of ash and soot.
Vespazian vaguely noticed the troops readying themselves. Good, they understand a little.....
Sroka, get these men moved out. Follow my lead. Song Speaker, you are with me. Vespazian moved out, heading in a roundabout direction toward the only "covert" entrance into the castle.
He looked to the Goblin 'rider, I don't know your name and I don't care. Get us to the sewer without interruption. His eyes narrowed and he imagined the rat sliced apart by his own axe. Don't fail me.....
He waited for the gob-rider to lead the way and lead the rest of the troop to his destination.
