Rename "The Two Towers" to Something Less Offensive Petition Petition

actually, tolkien used to read nostrodamus a lot, and he named the book in advance, fully aware of what was going to happen in 2001. in fact, tolkien was outright evil and endorsed everything evil that's ever happened in the world, and everything that's even been done in his name or based on his work - including D&D of course - should be permanently banned and destroyed and... ahhh!!! *gets dragged off kicking and screaming to the looney bin*

Am I the only person who thinks that petition was meant as a joke? I find it incredibly amusing that PetitionOnline.com took it seriously enough to leave a comment explaining that The Two Towers is in no way connected to the World Trade Center.

Please Note: The Two Towers is the title of the JRR Tolkien book originally published in 1954, the second book of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The title was thus established some 47 years prior to the attacks on the World Trade Center towers, and there is no evidence to suggest that Peter Jackson meant anything by continuing the same title other than faithfulness to the beloved Tolkien classics. Furthermore, the two distant, opposing towers in the Tolkien classic have very little if anything in common with the two matching towers of the World Trade Center. — PetitionOnline.com
Apparently Petition Online has chosen to put a "warning, this petition is fundamentally stupid" disclaimer on the durned thing...

Everyone, if it's not too much trouble, could you please sign my petition to change the emergency number 911 to something more sensitive. ;)

What is wrong with you people. Can't you see that the poll was a joke? How can you NOT see that? I can't believe so many of you took this seriously...yeesh.

I hear the word "gullible" is actually slang, and not in the dictionary, too...

Well, the petition might be a joke, but there are people out there who do think Jackson should rename the movie. I remember reading a couple of interviews with him back in December, after the first movie was released.

Jackson said he and the films' other producers and some people from New Line Cinema talked about the possibility of changing the name shortly after 9-11. But they came to the (obvious) conclusion that the films should keep the names of Tolkien's original books, and that by changing the name of the second movie because of the 9-11 terrorist attacks would be allowing the terrorists to have too much of an impact on our lives.
