But lately, with free time at a record low (new baby at home),

I wonder how many have seen a movie a great number of times just because it was on for their kids (or, as in CL's case, for a younger sibling)? :)

In fact, I would distinguish between a good movie and a rewatchable movie. Traffic, for example, is a really good film, but it's not one I'd watch over and over. There are some movies I think are really good that I purposely do not watch repeatedly, lest they become routine. Before Sunrise is the best example of this, for me.

That's a good point - there are a number of movies I would consider much better than my "rewatchable" movies, but I have no real desire to see them ever again... I cannot watch "Alien" again. And "The Silence of the Lambs" is an excellent film, but whenever it's on tv I have to change the channel. OTOH, every time "The Addams Family" is on I will watch it if I have time. :)

I'd guess essentially all parents these days and probably damm near everyone else who has anything to do with small children on a regular basis.

Well, if you count that, I probably need to make Brother Bear or Finding Nemo near the top of my list of repeated movies. Mostly overheard from the front seat of the van on trips.

My littlest brother went through stages; I remember a Tron phase, a Pete's Dragon phase and a A Night in Casablanca phase as well. But I didn't really watch those movies per se; they were just on in the background. A lot.

Star Wars for me, 32 times on the big screen during its original release. Then many more times again on video, TV and the modifed rerelease.

These days I don't have the time to see a movie again and again. If I really like a movie - and it would have to be absolutely spectacular - I might see it a second time. Most of the time, if I have the chance to see a movie, there is something out there that I haven't seen that I would like to, and that takes priority.

As for most viewings ever, it's a toss-up between The Princess Bride and The Arrival, both in the 15-20 times neighborhood. The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorite movies...

Slacker.

I'm easily into triple figures on The Princess Bride ;)

Strange. I have Before Sunrise and Before Sunset (and Waking Life, which is only mildly relevant) on DVD, and I watch them all the time, yet they never become routine.

I couldn't really say which movie I've seen the most though. There're a bunch I've seen 100+ times easily, off the top of my head Office Space, Blade, Half Baked, Mallrats, The Beach, Fight Club, Hackers; Office Space, Blade and Half Baked because they were social things we used to do, the rest because I find myself throwing them in over and over and never getting tired of them.

When I watch a new movie I like to be completely immersed in it without any distractions, but with a movie you already know by heart you can put it in while doing any number of other things in the background, even sleeping.

Lets see....the movies I've watched the most:

Cruel Intentions - 20 times
Back to the Future, Part II - 45 times
Darkman - 30 times
Hackers - 36 times
Jaws - 15 times
The Mummy - over 180 times
The Mummy Returns - 90+ times
Night of the Living Dead (original) - 35 times
Pirates of the Caribbean - 100+ times
Seduced By Evil - 50+ times
Superman III - 50-60 times
Tron - 40 times
Xanadu - close to 400 times (my most favorite movie ever)
