Replicators vs Borg

I believe he means the modular, insect-like robots that infest the far reaches of the SG-1 universe and are the bane of both good and evil biotic inhabitants. I'd give the nod to the replicators. Watching battles against them is like watching someone try to block a river with a sieve. :D

The Borgs only hope is sheilds, which work against federation as they haven't got enough time to eat through the walls:D

So, what are the replicators like? What's their story? Why do they attack? What are they? Do they reproduce? What drives them? What technology level do they have?

You have to rember the borg are highly advanced, they out do the federation tech in the 24th century. The replicators are on a show that has close to todays tech.

The Borg from Star Trek are highly advanced but not invincible. Nevertheless their culture is survived by assimilating (or stealing) other species' technology. They also assimilate carbon-based life form, preferably bipedal humanoid, to replicate drones.

The Replicator from SG-1 are also highly advanced but not invincible. They seems to susceptible to ballistic weapon technology (firearms or slugthrowers). Their culture is survived by assimilating machines and technology. What they do to life-form species is unknown other than being treated as threats and obstacles to assimilating machines. This kind of mistreatment indicate no compassion for life form other than their own and have no compunction to communicate nor co-exist.

But between the two, the Replicator is the most formidable enemy. One that I would gladly take a firearm against them with as much compassion toward them as I have for a mosquito bearing the West Nile virus, none.

What's a replicator? I'll assume you mean something other then the food makers on Star Trek.

LOL

WORF: Captain, the Borg are attacking!

PICARD: Don't worry. I have a plan. Tea, Earl Grey, hot! Damn, this isn't working! Aaaaargh!

Than again, considering how badly Trek ruined the Borg, I wouldn't be surprised if they could be killed by a cup of hot tea.

As long as I ignore VOYAGER's use of the Borg (despite the fact that Braga is credited for their existence in TNG) that species can be a very formidable enemy.

Replicators are Von Neumann machines. They exist to find refined materials to make more Replicators. And so on. They're VERY technologically advanced. Put a bunch of Replicators together, and they can alter themselves to be whatever they need. (For instance, when the Gou'ald ship was thrown to the Replicator/Asgard area of space, which would have required about 100 years of travel at maximum speed to get back, the Replicators put a couple hundred units together on the engine, and got back in less than a day.)

But that's the danger of Replicators. If one gets loose on a planet, you soon have two. Those two become four. Those four become eight. And so on. Within a short amount of time, they go from a minor threat to overwhelming numbers.

I still don't know how that one Replicator that landed on Earth was defeated. :(

I'm certain that Braga did not create the Borg. They first appeared in the second season episode "Q Who?" which was written by Maurice Hurley.
