Representing 3d movement with miniatures

I'm looking for something like Thunderfoot's & Theron's suggestion of the "pizza box" things. Something that towers up and allows me to place minis on it one atop another.

I guess I'll have to get my gf to wear her short skirt and stop into a pizza joint and ask for some free pizza box thingies I'm not about to order 20 pizza's.
