Has any one read Blackstaff? If so is it any good?

I haven't yet. I picked it up Sunday but am in the middle of another book, Summer Knight by Jim Butcher.

At this stage, the responses at Candlekeep have been overwhelmingly positive. And given the vibe there more recently re some aspects of the Realms, that's saying something.

Very cool.

Game designers writing novels tends to be a hit or miss situation, either really good or really bad. But Schend was/is one of the better FR sourcebook writers, so I had high hopes for him on his leap into the novel side of things. Based on the comments I've heard, I'm likely to pick it up next time I go to the bookstore.

Agreed, particularly regarding Schend. I picked up the novel today, but likely won't have a chance to "dig in" for a few days. I'll try to post my opinion when I finish it, if I can find this thread again...
