Residential Evil and D&D

Hi-

I'm starting a Forgotten Realms campaign set in Westgate with a Residential Evil tone. Basically a creature called the Servitor of Azathoth has taken up residence in the catacombs beneath Westgate and is using it's Aweful Luting ability to mutate the beggers and other refuse of Westgate's Thieves Quarter into hybrid Zombies. The Authorities of Westgate have sealed the Thieves Quarter thus sealing the players in with the infected residents.
Would hell hounds be a good representation of the mutated dog like creatures in the movie? Or should I go with the Hound of Tindalos?

What level do you imagine the players/campaign starting at? (he said, ending his sentence with a preposition.)

Or maybe I should ask, at what point do you imagine they might encounter the licker/mutant dog(s)?

I only ask because, if it's less than 5th, and you're considering . . .

. . . then the party is in for a helluva time, assuming the Hound is unmodified. Nasty monster ('course, that's kinda the point).

Upon further reflection, I realize I have nothing of substance to add, and must therefore hie myself away in embarassment.

Incidentally, I think you're campaign idea sounds awesome! What other ideas do you have?

Good luck, it sounds great!
