Ressurection question

If a character is raised from the dead, they lose a level, but do their exp points drop back to the midway point of the lower level or to the start of the level...

For instance an 8th level character bites the battleaxe. Do her experience points drop to 21,000 or 24,500?

The level loss is the same as if the character were hit by a energy draining creature (it´s in the spell description)

So the correct answer is 24500 xp.
