Resting in the dungeon

I would ask what kind of game are YOU running? I can't imagine playing in it.

Consider a 14-room dungeon. That's 14 encounters (unless you enjoy a LOT of empty dungeon rooms. ....

Now consider a dungeon with 20 rooms. 30 rooms...

This is pretty much where the division is for me. I don't care for this kind of dungeon.

There are 12 rooms in my house, but odds are there's only 2 encounters (my family, the dogs).

The way 3.5 encounters develop -- if there's a group of humanoids spread out in 6-12 rooms I usually consider that 1 encounter if they are they are within typical proximity.

And just because a room doesn't have a monster or a trap doesn't mean it can't be interesting. And in reverse, every room doesn't need to be interesting either.
