Restoration from Evil Cleric

Hi all.

In my current campaign, a cleric of good that the PCs have used for healing has turned to worship an evil god. Recently two very devout members of the party have gone to him and been restored of levels by him, not knowing that he had turned to more vile practices.

The fact that he has turned evil will become known to the PCs in the next session and I was looking for creative ideas around what could happen to the PCs who have been restored by him.

I was immediately thinking that the evil cleric could have cast something else on the PCs during the Restoration ceremony. Or that they are tainted because they were restored by an evil god. Anyone have any other suggestions out there?

Thanks.

- The character detects as Evil for a week.

- The character suffers a -2 penalty to all saving throws vs. Evil foes.

- The character is forced to shout some form of blasphmey every hour (or so) unless she makes a Will save [DC 15]. Role play it like Tourette's syndrome. Any stressful situation -- like combat -- forces another Will save, and the character loses her first action (to shouting obsenities) if she fails.

- The character suffers phenominal bad luck. Dig out your favorite Critcal Failure table and go to town!

- The character suffers the effect of the Nightmare spell cast by a random demon/devil. This lasts for one month (unless the party takes steps to stop it).

- The character can only eat raw meat for one week.

- The character's dark aura makes people uneasy. All good NPCs start out Unfriendly, and all social skill checks suffer a -2 Profane penalty.

Evil Restoration

Two options:
1)The restoration did nothing evil to the characters, but they were healed by evil. It should give good party members the willies and send them running for an atonement from a true priest.

2)Give each character a "blessing" along with their restoration. The characters are marked by the evil deity. Give them a positive reaction modifier with evil outsiders or followers of the deity. The characters also Detect as slightly evil, due to the taint.

Perhaps he rolled a Quickened, Silenced, (etc....) Contagion (or similar spell) into the ceremony. Yes, he restored the PC, but now the PC has contracted some sort of disease.

Or maybe geas/quest? Have the PC quest to perform (or retrieve) some evil deed (or item).

Re:Restoration

Thanks for the great ideas so far. I am thinking of using a penalty that would be minor in terms of actual combat, etc. and one that is more focused on giving the PCs the willies.

Another one I have thought of is that the PCs start getting a rash and it eventually turns into the symbol for the evil deity. The symbol appears to be moving and it ends up over the PC's heart, implanting itself there. Of course this could include nightmares and other effects and would require an atonement of some sort.

IMC the only priest that could Raise a dead character was a priest of Bane. When the PC returned, he was marked (tattoo on palm), and unable to resist Bane's call. In game: always fails Will saves vs Bane's priests.

Needless to say, getting the symbol removed is a large part of the PCs motivation.
