Return of B5?

One of these days, I'd just love to see JMS release a full description of the way he originally planned his stories, and comments on how he had to change things when actors left, or shows got cancelled, or the network did something stupid. I know in my heart of hearts that the time travel two-part episode with B4 in season 3 was supposed to fit in with the end of the series, instead of the middle.

Yeah, I know it in my brain as well as my heart. :p In the first season there was that "all the races show their religions" ep where delenns ceromony just happened to double as a wedding rite - at which she served sinclair specificly. It seems obvious to me that the first captain was meant to serve as the "hubby of the One" the savior of the galaxy, all that jazz, then finally fullfill his true destiny at the season climax. JMS did a good save, but man the church of Joe annoyed me when they claimed "it all happened the way it was meant to..."

Oh and here's another vote against the psi wars. I certainly won't watch if it is, simply because I don't agree with the simplistic "evilfication" of the corps and Bester. I'd rather have bester in charge than goth boy any day. (begins rants about the "we're non violent" BS while violating people's minds worse than bester ever did, then gives up...)

I'm actually hoping that its not about the telepath wars. Telepaths are interesting, but not so much so that I want to see 5 years of them. I would rather see a show centering around their conflicts with the drakh, the chilling of their relations with the centauri, and the development of the Interstellar Alliance.

Ditto here. A show detailing the beginnings of the ISA would be really cool - in The Deconstruction of Falling Stars JMS tells us that the ISA faced an uphill climb in the beginning. It'd be nice to see how that plays out. Of course, since the Teep War happens in that timeframe, definitely devote some time to it, but don't put it at the forefront of the series.

Revisting Crusade would be really nice to see, mainly for the reason that JMS had some really neat stuff in mind for that series. I doubt if it'll ever happen though.

The only discrepency is that Lyta was supposed to appear on Crusade, but JMS has also said she died in the Telepath War.
So it seems he has deliberately left the war open-ended, possibly for a future story to be told.
I think he mentioned some time that he saved the Teep war for a feature film, should there be one. As for the Lyta-related thing...
Lyta was supposed to have been the rogue telepath in Matheson's flashback in "Path of Sorrows," but that didn't work out.

That's what season 5 was mostly about, but apparently people didn't care too much for that.

Personally, the stuff with Byron turned me off for many of the reasons previously listed, but additionally because it only set up the Teep War - something we were never going to see anyway. The Centauri/Drakh arc and the fallout from the Shadow War was IMO the better arc of S5 and I'd like to see more of that in a new series.

JMS has said before that the actual "Telepath War" only lasted 6 months. Good for a movie or mini-series, but not for a show.

Another idea he mentioned was chronicling the travels of Lyta and G'kar, which could roll into the Telepath War near the end.

I personally hope it's something new, which can wrap up a few threads from Crusade.

I'm not as excited as I would have been before Legend of the Rangers. Hopefully, that piece of work was an aberration, and not indicative of JMS' "evolving" storytelling powers. 'Cause it was a real stinker, IMO.

Anyway, I know I'd give any new project of his a try.

Unfortunately, JMS has gone on record stating that he'll never be able to "redo" Crusade, because TNT/WB still owns the rights. :(

And frankly, I think LotRangers got an unfairly bad rap. Yes, it had problems. But if you look back at the pilot episode for B5, that was a seriously flawed piece of television, too. The trick to anything with JMS is to say where it goes, and how it gets there. I have no doubt that a LotRangers series would have wound up in a very different place than the TV movie began it.
