Return of B5?

Unfortunately, JMS has gone on record stating that he'll never be able to "redo" Crusade, because TNT/WB still owns the rights. :(

And frankly, I think LotRangers got an unfairly bad rap. Yes, it had problems. But if you look back at the pilot episode for B5, that was a seriously flawed piece of television, too. The trick to anything with JMS is to say where it goes, and how it gets there. I have no doubt that a LotRangers series would have wound up in a very different place than the TV movie began it.

WB will probably have their hands in any B5 pie that gets made since they're the studio that owns it. As for Crusade, I doubt TNT owns a piece of it, but probably has some sort of defined interest in the series for a period of time. In other words, if it were to go to another network, chances are that TNT would still have to get paid, at least for a while. And that sucks.

As for LotR, while there are always possibilities that JMS could have pulled it out of the crapper, I think it would have required a lot of work. The targetting sytem on the ship was silly, the ship itself was lame and precludes the possibility of this thing getting into any real fights, and the captain was the worst. actor. ever. I say let that dog lie and try again.

Byron gets a bad rap - he wouldn't have been nearly as bad if he didn't have to follow Marcus. Well, and if he didn't have to look so much like him.
Marcus was the beginning of the end for me and B5. Him and all that ranger crap.

For me too. Why did you find the rangers 'crap'?

He doesn't like the B5 Ranger combat paths? I mean, every on of them is specialized in using that pike thingie! What if his idea of a ranger likes PPGs better? Obviously, the ranger class isn't flexible enough to fit the archetype :D

I'm actually hoping that its not about the telepath wars. Telepaths are interesting, but not so much so that I want to see 5 years of them. I would rather see a show centering around their conflicts with the drakh, the chilling of their relations with the centauri, and the development of the Interstellar Alliance.
Pretty much all of this would have been covered by Crusade.

According to JMS, they would have found the plague sometime into the third season, if not the end of the second.

Really what the show was supposed to be about was the aftermath of the legacy with the Shadows - the Drakh especially, but from what I understand including some stuff with the IA and Centauri. This really comes into play in what would have been the season finale of Crusade (which JMS posted on a site a while back, but I don't believe it's still up :(). In fact, that's a big reason why (hidden in case he chooses to use it)
Galen is in the show - it would have been revealed in the end of the first season the technomages actually use Shadow technology

JMS did a good save, but man the church of Joe annoyed me when they claimed "it all happened the way it was meant to..."
Again, from what I understand, JMS had several back-up plans in case something didn't work out - like the actor who played Sinclair leaving. A similar thing happened with the actress that played Lyta - hence the introduction of Talia Winters.

But then, there were also plenty of times he got caught unawares - Claudia Christian leaving for no apparent reason (it was supposed to be her that fell in with Byron, and Lyta would just be on the side); or only having four years, and then ending up with five (when he compressed the original five years into four, then had to follow through).

Oh and here's another vote against the psi wars. I certainly won't watch if it is, simply because I don't agree with the simplistic "evilfication" of the corps and Bester. I'd rather have bester in charge than goth boy any day. (begins rants about the "we're non violent" BS while violating people's minds worse than bester ever did, then gives up...)
Well, based on the one or two characters we see in B5 that are part of the Psi Corps, only two of whom are in more than one episode (Talia and Bester), I think that's a completely unfair way to approach such a story. But to each their own.

Then why are you posting in a B5 thread? Seriously, I'd love to know.

Me too. Don't like it, don't watch. There's plenty of scifi shows I don't like, therefore don't watch (or annoy people by posting negative things about them in threads): Anything that begins with Gene Roddenberry's..., Alien Nation, Earth II, Voyager, Stargate SG1, Seaquest DSV, Lexx, Invisible Man, Smallville, and numerous others so horrid I can't even remember their names.
