Return of Mystara?

Not as silly as the Tortle.

I personally think they should have put the Lupins and Rakasta in the MM. They're as valid as Gnolls, and they fill a needed role. I don't count anymore the catfolk races in 3rd-party books and on messageboards.

That said though, I'm beginning to wonder if Kenzer is trying to get some sort of license to republish a HackMaster version of every discontinued AD&D world.
Though I'm not a Hackmaster fan or player, I thought I should interject that Kenzer & Co. does in fact have the license to nearly all materials published by TSR/WotC prior to 3e, excepting the Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, Dragonlance, and I beleive Planescape. That does mean they get to poke at Greyhawk, Mystara/Known World, Al Quadim, maybe Kara-Tur, and probably BirthRight.

There are folks out there who would switch to Hackmaster for Greyhawk or Mystara, but there's also the potential to convert these materials to 3e for your own home game. I have friends who do it vice-versa, I can't see why it would be so hard to convert. The systems have the same basis, one is simply more tongue-in-cheek.

The tortle! I loved the tortle!

Yeah, Lupins and Rakasta should have been in one of the MMs. And tortles! :D

Exactly, that's what I plan to do. I don't play Hackmaster, but I do intend to buy this book for the content rather than the rules.

Can Kenzer produce 3e materials for those settings?

Names of nations and cultures will not change. It will be a direct continuation in the basics of the setting, but the essence of it will be HackMasterized. More Mystaran than Mystara is the mantra here. For example, you could look at a barbarian from the HackWurld Soderfjord Jarldoms and look at a barbarian from the classic Known World Soderfjord Jarldoms and know, right away, that the HackWurld version could wuss-slap the Known World version into the next century. A HackWurld Darokin merchant would be able to trade with a Known World Darokin merchant, and leave the Known World merchant with nothing but a fig leaf. And so forth.

That sounds so incredibly cool. I'm really looking forward to this product! :)

I don't believe so, no. They were doing Rob Kuntz's Garden of the Plant Master for both 3e and Hackmaster, but WotC nixed the dual stats (it will actually only be 3e/Kalamar). I'm fairly sure they would likewise decline letting Kenzer do any of these old settings for 3e.

Of course -- it would preclude their being licensed to other companies. Greyhawk for 3e is an obvious impossibility as Living Greyhawk is still being supported (after a fashion).

AFAIK, Kara-Tur is "officially" part of the Forgotten Realms.

Can you say: "Teenage Ochalean Tortle Monks"? I knew you could!

Mmmm... Tortles!

Tortles, Lupins, Rakasta... all will be there! Though the Red Steel setting will be a "sideline region" (dealt with in passing, not in detail) these races will be included in the HM. Provided I actually have the room.

I'm planning on running a HackMaster adventure based loosely on the (delightfully poor) movie adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's Dagon. I kind of would like to set it on an island in Ierendi, but would like just a few minor spoilers from the newer version to help start up the characters. if Mystaros can/wants to answer them...

1) What timeframe (or equivilent) is the HackWurld book set in? 1000AC? 1014AC?

2) Do the Immortals exist as in the Known World, or does the HackWurld use the standard Gawds of Twilight Last?
