Return of the King, ummm not anticipating it.

I think a trailer will get everyone's juices flowing. Prolly gonna be a few months before we get one, but I know that I don't get really jazzed for any movie until I see a kick-ass preview or at least some stills...

Gota agree with John here. Hype is created by media and attention from the masses. There will not be any hype until the end of the summer movie season.

I think TTT was not as good because a real lack of character developement. The differences between the book and film annoy so many becasue they had no real value, whatever PJ was trying to accomplish with them was lost somewhere.

I ain't dying from anticipation either, but I wasn't doing so for TTT
either. 90% of the excitement surrounding the wait for FotR was
not because I couldn't wait for a good movie, I'm a patient fellow,
I can wait for a couple of months, but that I didn't know whether
it would be good or not. I just HAD to know, would the movie ROCK
(like it did) or would it SUCK horribly?

Thankfully, it ruled, and while TTT ruled slightly less, it was still
frickin' fantastic. So I'm calm, knowing there's probably a good time
in my future, in early december, when I'll get see the final film.

yep, i think CCamfield got it right. the lackluster tTT kinda ruined it for me. i mean hell, i only saw it twice, as opposed to the 4 or 5 times i saw FotR in the theaters. i feel your pain man. but don't give it too much thought. enjoy all the summer movies. then wait for the excitement to build afterwards, you'll be fine. it's tough to maintain all that excitement over two years on your own.

I find that the extra material works. Gandalf has a rebirth experience, Aragorn is given one to help in the understanding of the conversion from backcountry hic to king. If you watch carefully every character is getting a "crossing over experience." Also, looking at a book that I saw at work I noticed that there was a hobbitish looking Andy Serkis in a boat with another Hobbit looking fellow. Which leads me to suspect that the super extendo version of tTT will portray Smeagol's murder of Deagol and the entdraught. So chin up and look forward to November!

Aaron.

Additional- I also am keeping in mind that TTT is just getting us ready for RotK. We have yet to see Shelob, the Paths of the dead, The Battle of Pellinor Fields, the battle at the Gate, the entry way of Minas Tirith knocked down, and lots of other things, like the hobbits hommage to Gondor, the issue of the Palintir, and Aragorns healing of the sick. Plus everything else that PJ can cram into the super special extendo version.

John Edwards? Whos that?

Well, I thought it was nice since almost everyone else gets a "rite of passage" in the book. Still Aragorn's was the paths of the dead. But I think TJ is looking for timing.

Aaron.

should have said John Edward (no "s") and added a smilie to the post ... oh well, edit button, here i come.

(oh, he's that supposedly psychic guy who contacts peoples loved ones "beyond the grave" on sci-fi channel.

i was just making reference to jester47's use of "crossing over" in his (it is "his" right?) post which is the name of JE's show.

no, tTT wasn't awful per se, but it was a deffinite big let-down for me. there were too many things that i had complaints with.

still, i will most deffinitely get the "super special extendo version" TM (:D) when it comes out. i'm still a fan of course. ;)
