Return of the King, ummm not anticipating it.

TTT was a let down

I don't mind minor changes that make sense within the context of the story.

Showing Gandalf falling into Moria at the beginning of TTT made perfect sense to me. Aragorn flashing back to his discussions with Arwen. Likewise, showing Elves leaving Rivendell for the Gray Havens.

However, I was unhappy with Treebeard's characterization, the elves showing up for the Battle of Helm's Deep, Legolas skateboarding down the stairs, and an orc placing a time bomb underneath the wall.

What? You've never heard of or seen the famous elven pastime of stair-surfing? They usually do it on carved wooden planks but Legolas is obviously a master so he is able to overcome the -4 improvized board penalty...

Well I just don't have that "feeling" about seeing Return of the King. I don't know why. I loved FotR, I really liked TT but for some reason if RotK came out next week I don't even know if I would see it opening day or just wait a few days to let the crowds die down.

What the hell is wrong with me:confused:

Nothing. I myself have a different feeling, one though one I've had especially since I saw FOTR. That of both anxious to see it and dreading seeing it.

Hell, in retrospect my feeling for TTT is one of 'meh!'. I couldn't even get up the enthusiasm to see it a second time...and I certainly won't be buying 2 versions of the DVD. Dunno what I will do...probably just get the 'cheap' version in November.

As for my feelings re ROTK, whilst on one hand I'm anxious to see it...I'm dreading seeing which fave parts of the story will get chopped or warped beyond what I'm comfortable with.

Actually, the 'cheap' version should be out in August. The extended version will be out in November. Don't know many who actually bought both (OK, I don't know ANYONE who did), but I assume they're out there.

well, i sorta bought both ... kinda.
Blockbuster did this thing where if you bought a rental card you got hte first one for free. the value of the rentals alone was worth way more than the cost of the card, so it was kinda a no brainer. and i suckered my family into getting the "super special extendo version" TM for me for xmas. :D

I did, but amazon had em cheap. Just couldn't help myself, had to have all the extra features...

This is rumor so don't take it for granted, yet...but rumor has it that they might be showing a Return of the King trailer before Matrix Reload in May, which would be a good time to show it considering they had the trailer for Two Towers in March of last year. I hope this rumor is true cuz Matrix is gonna kick some major butt. And I love good trailers.
