Return to Chapel Hill [Sword and Sorcery Saga]

At the moment, Peredor watches the proceedings warily. He has been wandering aimlessly for some months now and a few coins would not go amiss but the man's conduct makes Peredor suspicious. The daunting prospect of communicating without words also contributes to Peredor's hesitation.

The man looks at the crew he has gathered.

"I understand your suspisions hopefully you can understand my lack of tact. Something very important has been stolen from me and I want it back. Yesterday a caravan of mine left her traveling to the east. My associate Jamon here was on that caravan. Early this morning as they broke camp they were attacked by beast men from the dark woods. They burned then Caravan and looted what they choose. Jamon managed to excape and followed them to the monistary on Chapel Hill before returning here.

I want you to escort him to Chapel Hill to recover that which belongs to me."

Well met, Lord Duncan. Abhay grasp Duncan's outstretched hand. As for these Beast Men, pray tell me more about them. I know much about the natural ways, yet admittedly know nothing about these "men." Abhay looked around at the three companions. He knew the journey would be a fun one.

[sblock=ooc]Do I need to roll to see if I noticed the Khuxan? I rolled just in case. I have a +8 modifier in perception (which I hope is what I would roll). I have given the link to my roll. I did not add my modifier to it as I wasn't totally sure it was perception. http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1240825 [/sblock]

The traveller from before he refered to as Jamon steps forward and speaks up now.

"There is nothing natural about the Beast Men, some say they are born of demon blood, or fell spirits from the hells. They stalk the Dark Woods, they eat the flesh of men. I know they have no soul."

Demon or hellspawn, it matters not to me. They are un-natural, and as such are my enemies. I volunteer my bow and body. Abhay bowed low to the two men. He added in a whisper, so only the merchant and the man named Jamon could hear, They will perish or my life will. Nature itself demands their deaths. Jamon, I would like to talk to you about these Beast Men. I need to know everything you can tell me, but only if you are certain your words are true. Please, allow me to buy you a drink in the tavern. He looks at Duncan and Mace. Pray come find me in the tavern when you are done here. Please lead the way to the ale, Jamon.

"As long as they bleed and die, I don't care much whether they have souls or not. And your name?" adds Duncan looking at the merchant.

Peredor steps forward and grabs the man's hand, shaking it firmly and gazing clearly into his eyes. He keeps his expression serene and calm, but maintains his disciplined stance.

Jamon looks at Abhay, "come there is a place in the back of the shop where we may talk. And I think there may be spirits there. If we don't let Carvon know we got into them."

The merchant gives a sidelong glance to Jamon and rolls his eyes. He then looks to Duncan, "Aye my name is Carvon the worlds greatest traveling merchant, if you want it, I can find it, and have your spirits, but hurry about it. Every second wasted is time lost"

Jamon leads you in through the shop where your eyes catch wonders from about the world, jade statues from the easterling lands, drums of the horselords, necklaces of strange unknown sea shells, frightening masks carved from wood, brightly colored spears decorated in feathers every color of the rainbow, and more things you cannot even place.

Jamon takes you to a backroom very simple, one bed, 2 chairs, and a small table. "Sorry there is not enough chairs." He leaves then quickly returns and pours glasses of very strong smelling spirit. "Sip"

"Ah another, good good. I can tell your not like the rest of this rot. Pray tell me me Sir, what is your name?"

Abhay motions for the others to sit. Tell me the tale of these Beast Men. How they look, how they walk, everything Jamon. Please do not relate to me any type of legend or story that could even be remotely untrue. Like the good merchant said, we have not the time to waste. Abhay makes no move to drink with Jamon, as he knows the potent stuff would simply impair him for the vital tasks ahead.
