Still trying to figure out how the DoD series relams adaptation justifies an egyptian pyramid in an area that was Imaskari dominated. Might have to seriously retcon the realms history there... Or perhaps that Mulan style was all the rage for the 4000 years after the Mulan Gods arrived...
Uhh.... Mulhorand is considerably younger than the Imaskari Empire (though still very old). Thus, the "egyptian pyramid" was built by Mulhorand. since the western (and northern) portions of Raurin was taken over by the Mulhorandi civilization (which developed after the destruction of the Imaskari).

Not sure what you need to retcon...

I can't find a decent timeline detailing the Mulan-Imaskari stuff. I thought the Raurin was the remains of the Imaskari empire and that the Mulan went west over the mountains. In Pharoh the players are kicked out of some county into the Raurin. and what they encounter would seem to me to be Mulhorand architechture. So how long did the Mulhorandi control that part of the desert before giving it up? And apparently that part of the desert was not a desert when the curse in Pharoh took effect. I just need to read up on things I guess.

I've run the entire Desert of Desolation series for 3e: It was great.

I3 is probably my favourite module of all time: it is one of the great dungeons.

I4 is absolutely fantastic - there's so much role-playing potential in this module.

I5 has some good ideas, but needs a really good DM to run it properly. A lot of it depends on chasing after NPCs, and that's very hard to run.

It's a truly great series, though.

Cheers!

I3 and I4 are both superior to I5 in my opinion. I3 Pharoah is more or less a straight dungeon crawl in a pyramid, but a very good one at that. Lots of memorable scenes. I4 Oasis of the White Palm has a lot more roleplay as the characters interact with the various factions at the oasis, plus there are a few small dungeons. Both modules have excellent atmosphere, and are a little less bizarre than Lost Tomb of Martek.

I recently finished running this series of adventures using the 3e conversion mentioned in other posts. It went very well, everyone seemed to enjoy it (though it went on way too long, considering I ran it for the group that meets only once a month). My opinions pretty much mirror those quoted above. I enjoyed running it 20 years ago and I enjoyed running it recently. It's a great series and very enjoyable in many places.

One of my favorite touches is the drawings of the stooge-types which appear throughout the adventures. They are always doing the sorts of silly/stupid things that adventures do in my experience.

I was just thinking about a demiplane of pyramids. It would be a world composed of Desert of Desolation, Necropolis, and Midnights terror.

Or perhaps the "Demiplane of Desolation" is the better name.

Now that is a really cool idea! Slap a d20 label on it and I bet you could even sell such a setting (fun and profit). I know I'd buy it.

Hey Psion, what other sorts of planar stuff do you plan to do for your campaign? I heard you were doing a planar travel game. Got any links for me to look at?
