Reversing the effects of aging

Hi folks,

i was wondering if there are any rules on getting younger.
Here is the case:
A character is currently of old age, giving him a negative modifier to physical stats and a positive one to mental stats.
What would happen if that character actually gets younger by means of magic (e.g. the steal life spell from bovd)?
Would the physical stats go back up? Would he keep the mental stats bonus?
This would be the most obvious ruling imo. Are there any RAW on this?

Your 2cts on this please!

Yes I think the same.
The mental stats are independants. In fact, a druid can increase these without suffering the phisical drawbacks of the aging. (it's a special ability I know, but it's only an example)

I think make sense to go with this logic even for rejuvenation, if the character retain his experience and his memories, who defines his mental stats.

The physical stats would go back up, the mental stats would stay the same.

YES! There is RAW to back this opinion up. You wouldn't necessarily think that there was, because 3.X specifically removed rejuvenation spells and effects. They're deadset against old age and eventual death not being inevitable. (Meantioned mainly to point out the fact that they've removed these effects). They even shortened the lifespans of the longer lived races in their hatred for long life.

However they left in the Reincarnate spell. It returns the subject to life in the body of a young adult of a random species. It also points out that the physical stats of the old body are removed (adjuctments for race is what they refer to) and physical stats for the new body are added. Mental stats remain unaltered.

There you are, a RAW source to support that idea. AND the only way to live forever under the current rules-set (without adding additional items/spells).

Ahh, though I agree with the decision they made to pull all the aging stuff out, I miss it...

Ghost! Age 10d4 years!!!!

Potion of longevity- regain 1d12 years of misspent youth!!

Both have been crucial long-term plot elements imc... in 2nd edition.
