What is harder to ignore is the rampant sexism blatantly displayed. The female historian falls for Khan in about 32 nanoseconds, and falls at his feet when he commands.

Let's give the writers some credit. Sure, she falls for the dude. But she's got a thing for guys like this, as they take the time to set up. And her loyalty becomes a critical element in the plot.

What's even funnier is that Khan makes a big deal out of recognizing Chekov in STII.

That's becaues Chekov kept Khan waiting for the bathroom....

Last episode of TOS. To be fair, the description says that *she thinks* that she didn't get the captain's chair due to her gender, but we don't exactly hear Kirk say "That's nuts! We have lots of female Starship Captains!" or otherwise seriously contradict her claim.

Doesn't she say something like 'your world of starship captains doesn't admit women'. I would take that to mean that starship captains (or JTK in particular) are too busy galavanting around the galaxy to have time for relationships, not that women can't be captains.

It's deliberately left vague, IMHO. You can attach whatever meaning to it you want. If you go with the PR angle that Starfleet is an equal opportunity employer, it means she's just deluding herself. If you go by what was actually seen in the episodes, she's right.
