[Review] Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game

I know there's something like at least 6 troll subraces in warcraft, with there being the forest, dark, shadow, island, jungle and ice trolls. The trolls that were aligned with the horde I believe were island trolls.

As for the Manuals of Monsters, hopefully it has the warcraft satyrs and naga since both of them are from the same origin as the high elves.

Since you didn't mention monsters, I assume they're not covered in detail. Is there a list detailing which standard 3e monsters represent the Warcraft beasts? Or an ad for an upcoming monster book for the Warcraft RPG?

Correct. There is a Warcraft RPG suppliment coming out in August or September called the Manual of Monsters that will provide lots of Warcraft monsters for you to use in a Warcraft campaign.

The book does mention a few Monster Manual creatures that can be used with the Warcraft setting as well. Gnolls, golems, and kobolds are all mentioned, and owlbears are as well (although owlbears are called wildkin in Warcraft).

OK, how does the arcane corruption work?

There are no explicit rules that govern the corrupting effects of arcane magic on players. In fact, arcane spellcasters who exercise caution in their spellcasting have nothing to fear.

If a PC becomes reckless in their use of arcane magic, you could decide that it causes an alignment shift or even attract agents of the Burning Legion.

I'm also wondering if the upcoming Warcraft RPG suppliment Magic & Mayhem will include rules for Arcane Corruption.

Gnomes do exist in the Warcraft universe, but they are exceedingly rare, and most people believe them to be nothing more than myth.

Yes, but who operates that cool power-armour tree-logger machine? :)

Excellent review. I love Warcraft. It was the first real computer game I bought myself. I will defenitely get this book when It's available in Sweden.

Goblins.

How well does it balance with the core rules?

If I dropped one of it's classes and races into my game, would it match in power level or not?

Oh, and what's the picture on page 85?

I'd say that it balances quite nicely with the core rules. Some of the prestige classes are a tad overpowered, as I mentioned in my review, but other than that I think that you could incorperate them nicely into your campaign.

And the picture on page 85 depicts a night elf woman wearing a skimpy bikini and thigh-high boots riding a giant cat in a seductive pose. I usually make fun of people who whine about cheesecake in fantasy art, but this picture looks like something that was turned down by Heavy Metal magazine.
