Reviews requested - Path of Magic/Sword, R&R2, Nyambe, Oathbound, Requiem for a God?

I'm on a fairly tight budget, and so far haven't actually bought any d20 products other than WotC stuff. Well, and Portable Hole Full of Beer (this product contains no alcohol).

However, I'm finally being tempted to buy something, but I've only got about $30 to spare (literally: after textbooks, I don't even have money for Chinese food!). All of the products listed in this thread title intrigue me, but I need to know what everyone else thinks of them before I commit to buying anything. I've survived so far without much d20 stuff, and I'd need to be really impressed to pick one of these up.

Can someone help me out? I mean, they're all nice, big books, and I'm sure people would be interested in hearing about them in more detail. Would those who have them post some reviews?

Jeez, this must sound either whiny or pathetic (or both), but I'm just not a big buyer, and lately my conscience has been getting to me for not buying my fellow gamers' work.

A little OT.. It was kind of neat seeing Wild Spellcraft at the Book Stan today Ryan... since you come from Beaumont and all. I made sure all the people in the store knew it.

:)

Well, you won't be able to pick up Nyambe for $30, I think the cover price is like $45. I saw it for $37 at my FLGS after a 20% discount.

I don't have any of the others, unfortunately. I just bought Nyambe but haven't really had a chance to read it thoroughly...it's nice though. I'll let you know more in a couple days once I read it :)

I know there's a preview of Oathbound linked on today's news page. You might want to check that out if you haven't already.

PS - what kind of chinese food are you eating that costs more than $30?? Is it airlifted from china?

Hi-
Ah Book Stan in Killean right outside of the east gate of Fort Hood.
Decent place but there was a much better place across from the Killean mall, I think it was called Slaughters games? its off ws young road if I remember correctly, awesome place with a discount buyers plan.
Anyway I plan to pick up City of the Spider Queen, hopefully it will be a decent rendition of the old Queen of the Spiders module from the mid 80's.

Path of Sword is a solid book if you play combat types (Rangers, Fighters, Barbarian, and Monks). It has a few alternate core classes and some prestige classes. It also has legendary classes (prestige classes that are hardier to get into, only five levels, but stronger then most prestige classes). THe highlights of the classes is the information provided. It just isn't a class, most have a lot of fluff with them and it's all very good.

I've never been to the one in Killean, Scott. I do know Terry, the guy who owns it. I've been a regular customer at his store here in Beaumont for about 12 years.

I like the fact that they always have the new products the day they become available, and they seem very knowledgeable about when products are coming and when they are not.

Cheers,
Ren

Regarding the Chinese food, I meant that, even though I love Chinese food, and there's this great place right nearby my college, I've been refraining from eating there because I want to save my cash.

Maybe I can pawn off some of the campus computers. . . . :)

Thanks for the heads up Nightfall.

Renshai, I went by Bookstan the day I left to head back to college, and the book wasn't there, so I couldn't brag. I'm glad to know that they at least ordered it. :) In the past I was good friends with Terry (guy who owns Book Stan'), but recently the two ladies who run the store jipped my girlfriend by selling some of her reserved comics, so I've been shopping more at Comics Kingdom. I hope they don't take it personally.

You and I still need to get together some time, just to say hi.

Always glad to help out where and if I can Rangerman. I hope you'll consider R&R2. I DO think it's worth you time. That and Requiem too.
