I don't want to derail my own thread, but when do you give your harpers their harper pin? IIRC the pin was a magic item in older editions, how do you handle this badge in 5E? (Just asking because one my harper players wrote the last session log. :D)

Well, it isn't a magic item now! I think they'd get given it as soon as they're officially inducted into the Harpers (although I have no clue how that happens).

Yes, but we haven't seen a Campaign Setting or something similar for the Realms yet and I think a harper pin is rather Realms specific. Maybe there are different pins? One for each rank within the faction. Perhaps just the first one is mundane and you get a new one when you level up. Or your original pin gets enchanted by High Harpers, when you level up...

EDIT: A quick search on the www turned up two pins a lesser one and a greater one. "The upgrade usually happens after an agent has been in the ranks for a few months or after an especially significant mission." - FR Wiki (These items are based on the 3.5)

The lesser pin works like a ring of mind shielding and is worth 8.000 gp, in the 3.5 system. In 5E a ring of mind shielding seems to be an uncommon magic item. I don't have my books at hand so I am not sure wether this simple conversion works, as I fear a ring of mind shielding is just to powerful for a 4th level character as a welcome gift.
