As always, what you believe should have been the name for the new books is more telling of the speaker than the rules themselves. Specifically, it reveals the speaker's biases towards D&D, 5e and WotC in general.
Because they have the same book title. I wouldn't expect two copies of A Game of Thrones with different covers to have different content.Who says they were expecting the same content? You say that now they expect the same content because there is no version number, despite the different cover. I'd say if I have a different cover, I also expect different content.

Why would I expect the below to be the same rules?

the reprint of 2e has a completely different trade dress, so by that logic they should have different content, and since no one is keeping up with D&D news, no one knows whether there is a new edition or not, so all they have to go by is the cover, just like you claim is the case nowI would argue that if the two books have the same name, and there's no new edition, and trade dress-wise it looks quite similar,
So long as your statement applies to everyone, I can't really argue that. I and others each have a take.As always, what you believe should have been the name for the new books is more telling of the speaker than the rules themselves. It's not a perfect comparison, I admit. Point to @mamba !the reprint of 2e has a completely different trade dress, so by that logic they should have different content, and since no one is keeping up with D&D news, no one knows whether there is a new edition or not, so all they have to go by is the cover, just like you claim is the case now
it doesn't even say 2nd edition on the reprint, might as well be a 1e reprint thenBecause they have the same book title. I wouldn't expect two copies of A Game of Thrones with different covers to have different content.
I didn't exclude anyone. In a lot of situations, the name you* give it reveals your agenda. The difference between '24, 5.5 or 6e really depends on how much you want to "other" it from the 2014 version of 5e.So long as your statement applies to everyone, I can't really argue that. I and others each have a take.
Fair. I very much want to other it, because I don't want 3pp to change to suit it better, and I don't care about compatibility with WotC adventures.I didn't exclude anyone. BButthat ia why the book itself makes it clear it is the current PHB, compatible worh other 5E materials. But still if it wasn't for this site, I'd have no idea that video even exists. I don't subscribe to any RPG material, or any at all, on YouTube. I'm sure now that I watched that video YT will recommend or bombard me with ads for every Ginny Di video she posts for the next 10 years
