Richard Belzer On Sci-Fi

First Post
Anyone planning on watching Richard "Law & Order: SVU" Belzer's new show on Sci-FI? I believe it's called The Belzer Connection or The Belzer Conspiracy or something like that.

For those who haven't seen the commercials, actor Belzer (a well know conspiracy nut, er, enthusiast) is going to host a show in which he tosses out conspiracy realted topics to such D-grade celebs as Al Fraken, G. Gordon Liddy, and Jeanine Garrafalo and waits for them to launch into awful, unfunny anal probe jokes. I can fell my brain cells dying already...

Pardon me if I'm wrong, but didn't TNN have THE EXACT SAME SHOW but with Kevin Neelen hosting?! Is Sci-Fi's plan to get big ratings by ripping-off series that ran, what, 5 episodes?

I guess this continues in their fine tradition of cheap, non-sci-fi, "what the hell?" programming they started with Crossing Over With John Edwards and The Dream Team.

On the plus side, Richard Belzer found a job which DOESN'T involve playing the character of Detective John Munch (Whether it be on Homicide, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, or even The X-Files*). On the minus side, it's a show which I have zero interest in. Oh well.

*That X-Files appearance was pretty cool, though. So does this mean that Homicide, Law & Order, and The X-Files all exist within the same universe? Hmm. Detective Pembleton, Detective Briscoe and Agent Mulder work together to catch an interstate murderer (Who's killed in both Baltimore and New York) who also happens to be a werewolf? Find out this week with Part 1 on Law & Order, followed up by Part 2 on Homicide: Life on the Street, and watch the conclusion on The X-Files.

I read his book on conspiracies, and it was pretty pathetic. Very superficial, too. I think his whole conspiracy nut bit is nothing more than an act - he's essentially just a poseur.

Well actually, I think that JE and TDT fit in quite well with the programming on the SF channel. Both shows have absolutely no basis in reality, are poorly written and totally unbelievable. After all it is the Sci-Fi channel, not "the Truth and Reality Channel".

Yes it does. In fact, they and manyother shows can all be traced back to St. Elsewhere, which means that they are all the figments of a young boy with Autism.

That's what he wants you to think.

Yes, Tommy Westphall. Currently, 85 shows (83 if you exclude the Simpsons and King of the Hill) have some connection to the Tommy-verse (or Fontana-verse or Munch-verse or whatever). Yes, we all knew that The X-Files, Millenium, and the Lone Gunmen (and perhaps Strange Luck) took place in the same universe. You could have guessed that Homicide, Law & Order (all three flavours), The Beat, and perhaps Oz, St Elsewhere and Chicago Hope all took place in the same universe. But who would have guessed that I Love Lucy and Friends also did?

And people thought Howard the Duck sharing universe-space with Wolverine was scary...
