Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

It is worth remembering that a lot of D&D players don't know who Gary Gygax is.

I think Ourph's point is an important one, though: I believe that without Gary's style of support, D&D would not have grown to the size it did, and without that I'm not sure it would BE its present size. We're technically probably on 3rd or even 4th generational gamers, now - and those 2nd and 3rd generations would not be as big as they were were it not for avid support that the 1st were shown by Gary. :)

Actually, I didn't know who GG was until I started posting (or as some have suggested, lurking) here on EnWorld.

<snip>

Again I apologize personally to GG and all of his fans. I had not intention of slandering or libelling him in my first post. My profound ignorance was apparent, and I'm glad so many people took the time to explain to me the error in my understanding and assumptions.

Thanx guys,

Sparxmith

Don't sweat the apology. You didn't libel Gygax in any way that a court would ever take seriously. You reported the hearsay you heard and, by prefacing it with "from what I've gathered", labeled it as such. You have since been set straight and that should be fine.
And whatever you do, don't let other prickly people intimidate you not to post when you've got a reasonable question or topic for the boards.
