riddle quickie

Wow! that was totally unintentional, but it takes 5 squares to solve the puzzle. Weird.

So far what I've got for the complex version is that the order of squares has to mimic the lines of the riddle.

1. I am the finder of hidden treasure = Safe Cracker or Recruiter
2. Yet I am also the assassin's gold = Back Stabber
3. I am the product when twins couple = ??
4. Yet I am also the lover left behind = Silver Tongue
5. = Guildmaster at dead center

Just need to find a thief role that fits the 3rd line, hmm

Full of awesomeness, and saved for my personal dming use.

One typo I wanted to call your attention to:
You have "what if a pc teleports across" listed twice.

Thanks again for the pdf, though!

Thanks for designing, adjusting and laying it out, Quickleaf. :)

It will be interesting to see reports of how this does in actual play. I hope people bookmark this thread, try out the riddle, then return and post. I will try to do the same.

You're welcome! Hey if folks do give me feedback about how this runs in actual play, I just might have to put together a "Thieves' Maze" puzzle series.

I'll try it out when my PCs get to the Pirates city; one of them is a renegade from there, so he could easily be called to try the Maze to earn his freedom from "the black spot".

Aside: I would very much like to see a Thieves' Maze series of puzzles before this event happens. I get the feeling the PCs could use a whole maze (reminds me of the grandfather of assassins from Bloodstone), and I don't know that I can design a proper one for them (time, etc.).

I'm always looking for puzzles like this, and if you can produce, I'll use it. I'm shocked there aren't books filled with this stuff (grimtooth's stuff is unusable for games where I want the party to survive unmutilated).

Do you have any more? Or know where I can get some?

Unfortunately, I don't know of other sources. Puzzles have been one of my strengths as a DM (I'd say knowing the rules has been my weakness), so I decided to design some. I'm in the middle of writing a 4e adventure for my group which revolves around the thieves' maze. As I finish the puzzles I'll post to this thread.

The next one I'm working on is called "Eye of the Beholder". Imagine a room full of different colored eye tiles - each trapped - with scything blades and a giant pendulum/censer moving in a circle at the middle with a gem sitting in acid within that you need to open the vault door...and a portcullis trap locking you in. :)
