Ring of Counterspells vs multple target spells?

What happens when a target of a multiple target spell is wearing a ring of counterspells?
Is the entire spell countered?
Is just the wearer immune?
Is the ring useless?

The spell is countered, not the effect.

The entire spell is gone if even one of the targets has a ring of counterspells for that spell.

Slight hijack... what spells do you like most in your counter rings ?

We have been using Dispel Magic a lot.... Flamestrike...

I'd say all rings would trigger.

None of them "know" about the others; the spell is cast upon their wearer, they counter it.
