Sound like a fair price?

If not, what would you say is a fair price for just the bolded spell protections permanently and not able to be dispelled?

For this price, I think I would give DR 50/+10

PS: I know that's what's given for the template Lich for the exact same cost (except the XP needed for the philactery are 4800 XP, not 5000)

No, polibrun is correct. These are the abilities given by lichdom that people are trying to convice me are only worth 120k, no change in effective level or the rate of acquisition of XP. And rather than be snarkish and attack the utter campaign recklessness of that thinking or the foolishness of thinking that any template (much less one with this much power) can be added without affecting what iconic level the character is the same power as..

Well, instead of flaming I thought I'd be snide over here and release my frustrations without hurting their feelings or starting a shouting match.

Sorry. :(

But yet he didn't list out all the negatives, give or take, there's only a few...although some spells like devestate undead (from Lords of Darkness) are in particular worth noting... (As wizard liches have very poor fort saves, this 8th level spell works wonders :))

True, but the negatives do little to balance (if anything) the positives.

The fact that an 8th level spell can seriously injure or destroy the character is moot, as any normal character can be seriously injured or destroyed by 8th level spells too. However, they don't tend to be immune to so many of them, nor do they respawn after being killed.

Heh, since this is essentially "buying" the lich template...

It also costs one his soul, and must constantly worry about the phylactery's safety. In other words, the cost is the gold + soul + mortal life (converted to undeath). Also, the act of becoming a lich is "unspeakably evil." So factor that in as well....

The moral of the story? It's "cheaper" to have powers when you are evil. When you are good, you have to fight against the odds :-)

There are a number of other vulnerabilities that come with being undead. . . .

You become vulnerable to turning (and destroying--especially by a character with the Sun domain).

You become more vulnerable to a number of spells (searing light, disrupt undead, sunbeam, sunburst, and quite significantly Undeath to Death (cleric and wizard 6--and significantly better than Circle of Death since undead have poor fortitude saves and it isn't hit dice limited).

Still, I think the previous poster is correct. The path to easy power is often evil.
