RIP Veteran's Armor (2008-2009)

I GM a game, and the Barbarian has some vet armour +2. I have seen no problem with it so far, it has if anything slightly extended the adventuring day as the barbarian can recover a rage, so feels more conident about going into a fight.

However I do have a rule that states (except for weapons and non slotted items) to gain the benefit of an item you must have had it since the last extended rest. At that rest you can only pick one item per slot. I assume you have to "attune" yourself to the item.
So you can't swap out several suits to regain multiple powers and then go back to your regular suit.

The power is good, don't get me wrong. Nothing wrong with the power. It's just not a level 2 armor power. I wouldn't mind seeing it at a much higher level, but at the level it was at, there was no contest. You took it, period, and rarely did other armor come into play.

I'm just curious as to what level of power IS appropriate for level 2 armor.

*Stands behind the pulpit*

I, as many of you, shall mourn this untimely passing as well. I wish I could have known Ol' Vetty better. As it was, I got it as an item for my Tiefling Warlock that I only played in a one-shot game. And sadly, I didn't even use my daily in the one combat encounter we had. Many of you knew him better than I, but we can all mourn together. For it was together that we enjoyed his life, and it is together, through us, that his memory shall live on.

*Turns to the casket*

Here's to you, Vetty. You will be missed, and you will be remembered.

*A single tear slips down his cheek as he returns to his pew*

For those houseruling the power back in, has anyone thought about a clause to keep the renewed power in line with the armour's level? So that the level 2 armour couldn't be used to renew all your high epic-level powers?

That seems like a neat idea for balance. Just keep the item as-is but make it so that it can only recharge powers equal to the item's level? OR maybe even equal to the plus of the item (so a +2 could recharge level 1 dailies)? That's much lower in power but still reasonable, but then you don't have a reason to have anything other than a +1 and a +5 version of the thing...

The level restriction is not relevant, there only needs to be some restriction (unless there already is in the core rules, not sure about that), preventing you from carrying around multiple such armors and using the power multiple times.

You surely won't wear a level 2 armor at epic levels. ;)

Bye

The level restriction is not relevant,
I think it is quite relevant ;)

There's nothing RAW stopping an epic level character from having a few level one suits, and changing into one of them to regain a daily power. I'm not saying it is a great option, but it works, and it is definitely relevant when a level 2 item is of that much interest to a level 30 character!
