I'd be interested, but I'd want more creamy fluff than is normal for a monster book. A simple book of stats with no retelling of the myths won't interest me.

What are you thinking should be in this book that is not already covered in a sourcebook? The monsters in D&D are based largely on mythological monsters. The idea of a RL mythological monster is of course an oxymoron and so I assume (as I believe everyone else here has) that you mean creating a sourcebook that keeps the monsters true to their original myths and not what decades of gaming have turned them into. If on the other hand you intend to chronical the RL adventures of mythological creatures I believe the Weekly World News has that covered.... If you are talking about a "retelling" of the origins of the monsters so that DM's can "keep it real" I'm interested in that....

Yes, it should contain some retelling, so that we don't end up with just the creatures with no contextualization. Ideally, each creature should have a setting or other props described as well. And, each should have a description of its individual background, attitudes, behaviors, etc.

In short, it should have real flavor and authenticity.

And, possibly, some suggestions for using the myths in other ways- say moving the Minotaur to a Scandinavian country. Afterall, many of those monsters eventually died in those stories- so maybe they just slipped out and moved north.

Speaking for myself, I don't really want a book full of retellings of the myths that the various creatures came from. I would like an appendix which clarifies which creature came from which culture's myth. And a kickass bibliography. But not the whole myths.

And I'd rather see creatures form cultures which don't see a lot of roleplaying exposure otherwise. But if you must go Greek or Norse or Celtic or whatever, focus on the more obscure stuff. Sileni rather than Satyrs.
